WELCOME MESSAGE

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate at the 24th Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP) in conjunction with the 22nd South-East Asia Congress of Medical Physics (SEACOMP), to be held at The Wembley - A St Giles Hotel, Penang, Malaysia from 10th  to 13th October 2024.

AOCMP and SEACOMP are important annual events in medical physics in the region. The objective is to gather the medical physics and allied health professionals in the region to share knowledge, expertise, scientific discussions, cultural exchange and medical technologies updates. This is the third time Malaysia is given the honour to host this event after year 2004 and 2018. The congress is expected to attract more than 500 participants from the professions of medical physics, biomedical engineering, radiology, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, radiation protection, biophysics, radiobiology and related fields.

The theme for this congress is “Revolutionising Patient Care Through Medical Physics”. We are planning a comprehensive scientific programme including orations, talks by eminent speakers, oral paper presentations, poster presentations, lunch symposiums, panel discussions and some pre-congress workshops that cover most of the disciplines in medical physics, i.e. diagnostic and interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, radiation protection, radiobiology artificial intelligence, and new emerging techniques. We also look forward to promoting collaboration between the various disciplines with our industrial partners.

With previous congresses experience and strong track records, we are confident that the AOCMP & SEACOMP 2024 will offer you the best platform for medical physics scientific updates, networking with medical physics colleagues and industrial partners in the region, showcasing your research outcomes/innovations, participating in cultural exchange and social networking with our neighbouring countries, etc. We strongly encourage you to grab this opportunity to take part in this important event, and together, we make the congress a memorable experience.

See you in Penang!

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

In my capacity as IOMP President, it is with immense pleasure and great honor that I extend a warm welcome to all participants of the 24th Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP) and the 22nd South-East Asia Congress of Medical Physics (SEACOMP), to be held from October 10th to 13th, 2024, at The Wembley - A St Giles Hotel, Penang, Malaysia. This congress provides a unique platform for clinical medical physicists, researchers, and students to converge, share knowledge, and advance the field of medical physics. I am confident that the scientific program, meticulously curated by the esteemed organizing committee, will be intellectually stimulating and will provide valuable insights into the latest developments in medical physics. The program includes an exciting lineup of keynote speakers, thought-provoking sessions, and interactive workshops that will cover a broad spectrum of topics, from cutting-edge research to practical applications in clinical settings. Additionally, the congresses will offer numerous opportunities for networking, fostering collaborations, and building lasting professional relationships.

The AOCMP and SEACOMP congresses are also about celebrating the community we have built. As medical physicists, we play a critical role in the healthcare ecosystem, and our collective efforts contribute significantly to patient care and safety. These congresses are a testament to our dedication, and they highlight the importance of our ongoing education and professional development. Let us use this platform to inspire each other, challenge ourselves, and push the boundaries of what we can achieve together.

Penang, with its rich cultural heritage, is a fitting venue for these congresses. Its blend of historical charm and modern dynamism mirrors the dual focus of our gatherings: honoring the legacy of our field while driving forward the innovations that will shape its future. The Wembley - A St Giles Hotel offers not only top-notch conference facilities but also a welcoming atmosphere that promises to make this event both productive and enjoyable.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the organizing Chairpersons Prof. Chai-Hong Yeong and Dr. Jeannie Wong Hsiu Ding, the committees, sponsors, and all colleagues who have worked tirelessly to make this event possible. Your commitment and hard work are deeply appreciated and are key to the success of these congresses.

I look forward to a fruitful and enriching experience for all.

Prof. Dr. Eva Bezak

AFOMP President

Dear Medical Physics Colleagues and Friends,

It is with great pleasure and anticipation that I extend my invitation to all of you to actively participate in the 24th Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP) and the 22nd Southeast Asia Congress of Medical Physics (SEACOMP). Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Penang, Malaysia, this congress promises to be an excellent opportunity for education, research and networking of medical physicists in the AFOMP/SEAFOMP regions.

Under the theme of "Revolutionising Patient Care through Medical Physics," we will explore the transformative nature of our profession in improving healthcare delivery in Asia-Oceania. As medical physicists, we are at the forefront of innovation, employing cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to ensure quality, safety, precision, and efficacy in patient treatments.

The Congress will serve as a dynamic platform for the exchange of ideas, experiences, and research findings, fostering collaboration among professionals from diverse backgrounds. Together, we will discuss the latest advancements in medical imaging, radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, radiation safety and beyond, all with the common goal of improving the diagnosis and treatment of patients in our very diverse and unequal region in terms of access to health services and high-level equipment. We are also meeting in the time of the 4th industrial revolution, where robotics and artificial intelligence are going to disrupt our current way of thinking, problem solving, and healthcare delivery.

Penang, with its rich cultural heritage and vibrant atmosphere, provides an inspiring location for our discussions. The local organizing team has strong experience in conference management and they have my highest confidence that they will deliver an outstanding conference with ample opportunities for discussions, education, and cultural experiences.

I welcome you all to Penang for what promises to be an enriching and productive meeting – where once again we can meet Face-to-Face, overcoming the challenges of the recent pandemic years.

Looking forward to seeing you in Penang.
