TRAVEL GRANTS/AWARDS

We offer several travel grants/awards to assist medical physicists from the region and from developing countries to attend and present their work at our Congress. Do not miss out on these opportunities!

IUPAP Travel Awards for AOCMP-SEACOMP 2024

The International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) Travel Awards for AOCMP-SEACOMP 2024 is created with the intention to support aspiring medical physicists from developing countries by providing financial support to attend the 24th Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP) in conjunction with the 22nd Southeast Asia Congress of Medical Physics (SEACOMP) 2024, which will be held on 10 – 13 October 2024 in Penang, Malaysia. A cash prize of MYR 2,000 will be given to the awardees, subject to the following terms and conditions. A total of eight awards are available.

Mandatory Requirements:

​

  1. The awards will be given to medical physicists or medical physics students working/studying in developing countries* (except from the host country, Malaysia).

  2. The applicant must have an accepted abstract at the AOCMP SEACOMP 2024 and will present either an oral or poster at the congress

  3. The applicant must register and attend the congress.

  4. The results will be announced on 15 August 2024.

  5. Disbursement of the travel award will be done during the congress

  6. The final decision of the awardees lies with the local organising committee of the AOCMPSEACOMP 2024.

*The list of developing countries are based on the World Bank Classification on low and middle income countries.

Terms and conditions:

​

Higher priority will be given to the following:

  • Applicants from developing countries/areas.

  • The level of responsibility in performing and/or supervising others to perform medical physics service.

  • The value to the applicants in promoting medical physics in their institutions/countries in attending the congress.

  • Applicants who have less opportunity of attending overseas training/conferences.

  • Applicants who have not received any SEAFOMP travel award before.

  • Applicants with higher quality abstracts
     

How to apply:

  1. All applicants need to submit their applications through the Google Form HERE with the following files:-

    • ​​The latest CV of the applicant

    • 1-page statement of the applicant’s research interest and their future research plans, and a description of how the grant will help them with their research plans.

    • A passport-size photo

SEAFOMP Travel Awards for SEAFOMP Members

SEAFOMP is providing Travel Awards to assist medical physicists from developing countries in the South-East Asia regions to attend and present their work at the 22nd SEACOMP. 

​

Goals of the Grant:

​

  1. To assist medical physicists from developing countries in the SEAFOMP region to attend and present their work at the 24th Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP) and 22nd Southeast Asia Congress of Medical Physics (SEACOMP)

  2. To foster international co-operation in the field of medical physics not only between SEAFOMP member countries, but also between medical physicists around the world.
     

The Grants:

​

  1. Four (4) Travel Awards with US$ 150 for each successful applicant from within SEAFOMP countries, and;

  2. Two (2) additional Travel Awards with US$ 500 each for successful applications from Lao PDR and Cambodia.
     

Mandatory Requirements:

​

  1. The applicant shall be a young medical physicist (including medical physics students) with maximum age of thirty-five (35) at the time of application deadline, currently practicing in a SEAFOMP member country; and

  2. The applications shall be verified and endorsed by the respective SEAFOMP member organizations (this condition may be exempted for applicants from countries where medical physics organizations do not exist); and

  3. The applicant shall submit at least one abstract accepted for presentation at the AOCMP-SEACOMP 2024; and

  4. The awardee shall register and attend the Congress in person (Awards will be presented, and payment will be made at the Congress closing ceremony); and 

  5. The awardee shall submit a short report by October 30, 2024 to the SEAFOMP Secretary-General (seafomp.official@gmail.com) and to the awardee’s Medical Physics Association/Society on what was learnt at the Congress and how he/she intends to apply that in his/her own country.
     

Selection Criteria:

​

Higher priority will be given to the following:

  • Applicants from developing countries/areas.

  1. Applicants should complete the application form HERE.

  2. Complete application form must be sent by email to the SEAFOMP Award and Honor Committee (seafomp.official@gmail.com) on or before July 15, 2024.
     

  3. Applications received shall be considered by the Awards & Honors Committee and endorsed by the SEAFOMP executive committee, whose decision shall be final. Applicants should provide in their applications all relevant information for assessment by the Committee.

AFOMP Travel Awards for AFOMP Members

AFOMP is providing Travel Awards to assist medical physicists from developing countries in the Asia-Oceania regions to attend and present their work at the 24th AOCMP. 

Goals of the Awards:

​

  1. To assist medical physicists from the developing countries in the AFOMP region to attend and present their work at the 24th AOCMP.

  2. To foster international co-operation in the field of medical physics between AFOMP member countries.

 

The Awards: 

 

  1. Up to US$ 300 for each successful applicant from within the AFOMP region.

​

Mandatory Requirements:

 

  1. The applicant shall be a medical physicist (including medical physics students) currently practicing in an AFOMP member country [1]; and

  2. If an applicant is practicing in a country in which there is an AFOMP member organization, the applicant must be a member of that organization and the member organization must be up-to-date with its AFOMP subscription; and

  3. The applications shall be verified and endorsed by the respective AFOMP member organizations (this condition may be exempted for applicants from countries where medical physics organizations do not exist); and

  4. The applicant shall have at least one abstract accepted for presentation at the 24th AOCMP; and

  5. The Awards will be presented and payment made at the Congress closing ceremony; and 

  6. The awardee shall submit a short report by November 30, 2024 to the AFOMP Secretary-General and to the awardee’s Medical Physics Association/Society on what was learnt at the Congress and how he/she intends to apply that in his/her own country.

 

Selection Criteria:

​

Higher priority will be given to the following: 
 

  • Applicants from the developing countries/areas.

  • Candidate must have abstract submitted, which is accepted and awarded as oral presentation

  • The value to the applicants in promoting medical physics in their institutions/countries in attending the congress. Applicants with higher quality abstracts

  • Younger scientists will avail this award.
     

Application Procedure:

​

  1. Complete application form HERE must be emailed to: Dr Aik Hao Ng, the AFOMP Secretary General (sg.afomp@gmail.com) and copy to the Chair of Awards & Honors Committee (ahc.afomp@gmail.com) by 20th   July 2024

  2. Applications received shall be considered by the Awards & Honors Committee, whose decision shall be final. Applicants should provide in their applications all relevant information for assessment by the Committee.

IFM AOCMP-SEACOMP 2024 Travel Award 
for Malaysian Physicists

The IFM AOCMP-SEACOMP Travel Award 2024 is created to support aspiring medical physicists by providing financial support to attend the 24th Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP) in conjunction with the 22nd Southeast Asia Congress of Medical Physics (SEACOMP) 2024, which will be held on 10 – 13 October 2024 in Penang.

Goals of the Awards:

​

  1. To support aspiring medical physicists by providing financial support to attend the 24th Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP) in conjunction with the 22nd Southeast Asia Congress of Medical Physics (SEACOMP) 2024
     

The Awards: 

 

  1. A cash prize amount of RM2000 will be given to the awardees, subjected to the following terms and conditions.

  2. A total of 10 awards are available. The award will be presented during the congress.

​

Mandatory Requirements:

 

  1. The awards are to be given to Malaysian medical physicist or students who have an accepted

  2. Abstract at the AOCMP SEACOMP 2024 and will be presenting either an oral or poster in the congress.

  3. The awardees must be a member of either the IFM, MAMP or PERFEKS.

 

Selection Criteria:

​​

  • Selection of the awardees will be based on the merit of their abstracts.
     

Application Procedure:

​

  1. Application should be made online via Google Form  HERE  with the following files.
    • The latest CV of the applicant

    • page statement of the applicant’s research interest and their future research plans, a description of how the grant will help them with their research plans.

    • A passport-size photo

    • Letter of abstract acceptance

    • Support letter from either the medical physics organisation confirming the membership (MAMP/PERFEKS/IFM)
